Any ResNet subscriber has the option of "self-setup." This means that new subscribers do not have to bring their computers to the HelpDesk. Instructions for setting up the major operating systems are available from the ResNet setup team or the HelpDesk. This is the best option for people with newer computers with network cards or computers that have already been set up for another network. It is the only option for people using Unix/Linux computers and computers that do not meet the system recommendations.
The ResNet team will still set up computers for new or returning subscribers. Network & Computing Support has network cards available for a $25 supply fee. When supplies of these cards are exhausted, no more will be purchased. Students may purchase 10/100 Ethernet cards from many computer and office supply stores; these can be installed by the ResNet team for no additional charge.
